When we began this project back in 2007, Hacker News was a very different place. Rails was ghetto, code had enemies, and pg’s memory was impeccable.
I’m happy to announce that after 3.5 years, SearchYC is now obsolete. ThriftDB, brought to you by the guys over at Octopart, introduced HNSearch for the Hacker News community. We encourage everyone to use this new search tool.
Today, we announce with great sadness that SearchYC will go offline at the end of the month. We have enjoyed serving the community these few years and wish to thank all of our supporters for their help and kind words. This project would not have succeeded without all of you.
Keep an eye out for us in the future. I’d like to personally thank Jerry for all of his hard work in promoting the project and brainstorming crazy ideas with me. Please feel free to send any interesting opportunities his way. As for me, I’m currently building a team to work on iOS apps in the automotive space, so please send resumes my way!
Don’t miss us. We’re still lurking around HN, so don’t be surprised if you hear from us again soon.
Until next time, this is SearchYC, signing off.
