I really thought we were going to take some steps forward in the UI world after the whole Facebook/ReadWriteWeb fiasco. Am I the only one who thinks this a bad idea? Now users who have already managed to get lost on your site will be presented with irrelevant information rather than something that helps them find what they're looking for.

I guess it turns out that all of those people who want rentacoders to make facebook clones really aren't that far off the mark.

GMail users: If you find a site that doesn't like the + character, you can also use strategically placed periods to help direct spam. myemail@gmail.com and m.y.email@gmail.com are all routed to the same account. Just create rules based on the address you give to friends and the one you give to potential spammers.

> For bad programmers, like bad cooks, the mere mechanics of programming are challenging. Whereas good programmers, like good cooks, can make whatever they choose, so for them the big challenge is deciding what to make.

I've always loved the analogy of coding to cooking... a lot more than painting, or architecture.
