Twas the night before Christmas and all through the stack

Not a pointer was dangling, the place was a hack

The coders were all zonkered and crashed out on couches

With their screens all dimmed out and hands on their mouses

And I in my Code Monkey Shirt, and Maw in her cap

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap

When out on the quad there arose such a clatter

I sprang to the window to see what's the matter

When what to my wondering eyes did appear

But PG riding a sleigh, and giving out free gear!

That's all I got folks -- it's late and time to do the dad duties before sacking out. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Somewhere there's a real startup who posted here and nobody upvoted or commented about their work.

I'm sure this is pressing their buttons about now.

I'm toying with being an Anti-Solipsist, which basically states that everybody exists but me. I am completely imaginary and just a figment of real people's perceptions.

Since you exist, you should find this interesting, except that it came from me, an entity that is just a figment of your imagination.

Then again maybe not.

As you can see, I'm still working out some bugs with this worldview.

(grin)

I joke because I find the question slightly inane: people are who they are. It's not like they choose a philosophy and suddenly become something besides the emotional, reasoning hominids they've been all their lives. Philosophies can be bent, and people are really good at bending them to suit their predisposed character traits. In my opinion, of course.

You know, I'm starting to agree with you.

I've had Vista since it came out and am completely happy with it. I thought the Apple commercials were cute, but off-base. They were funny, and they emphasized Mac good points, so I liked them.

But now it just seems mean. Hell, computer commercials are getting like political commercials, and we've all had enough of that lately.

Does this mean I have to tear down my PG posters and little statue I built?

Here's a bit of advice: be a startup junkie and not just a YC applicant.

Startup junkies sill always follow startups: participating, sharing ideas, forming teams and making things happen. Being a startup junkie isn't something that is limited to any one funding cycle or organization. If you're a real junkie, YC is just a place to hang out while you're working on your own plans, which may have nothing to do with YC in the end. YC is just a tool which may or may not be available to you. If nothing else, you can monitor the board and listen while all kinds of cool stuff happens -- there's gold in being part of those conversations.

Or as the old saying goes, "I've been kicked out of better places than this one"
