or should I say 8 bit book?.
While reading the "Programmers don't read books" thread just come to my mind those really nice days where computer books where an extremely useful source of information. One of my favourites mentioned in the thread was:
BASIC Computer games by David Ahl

I was thinking of diving into Haskell soon, and was wondering, any suggestions for good books/tutorials out there? I am relatively new to FP, and looked on Amazon for some good books, and there seems to be three contenders
1.Programming in Haskell 2.The Haskell School of Expression: Learning Functional Programming through Multimedia 3. Haskell: The Craft of Functional Programming Any thoughts/words of advice? |

I know similar questions have been asked few times on hacker news. But, instead of asking you for books that you recommend but you never read before, I feel like this question is more tangible. Now, look at your bookshelf, what books do you have?
The books I have: Core Python Programming, CSS, DHTML & AJAX, Agile Web Development with Rails, The Rails Way, The Ruby Way, SAT 2008(Zzz), Made to Stick... |

So, I'm nearly done with my first product. I'd like to form an LLC and do things right from the start. Like most people reading hacker news, I admint I'm not too good with the business/legal side of a business. Can anyone recommend some useful resources or books?

I took courses in computer architecture, algorithms, theory, compilers etc at school but never did one in graphics. However now I am itching to learn something about computer graphics and maybe play with OpenGL and/or DirectX. Any recommendations about books/lecture notes etc? What will be a suitable project that I could do to learn some graphics?

I was never a great fan of Biology at school. I found it for most parts boring with terms that were very hard to remember.
But, I was always interested in how our body works and was wondering if there are any good books(s) that you found easy, interesting and informative to read about our body. Thanks! |

I'm trying to come up with a "reading list" for the Summer and I would like to hear what the YC community recommends. Suggestions can range from the highly technical (in the style of SICP or ACP) to the more popish ones (such as "The Long Tail" or "Blink!").
What books would you say have helped you the most in your startup or hackering in general? Which ones gave you the best ideas or insight? Which ones do you think every Hacker should read? Any books you have read recently, that you wish you had read earlier in your career? (I'm thinking business books, for instance) |

Do you Hackers have some advice for my nonhacking self? Here is a list of some of the books I've already read, I haven't delved into UI yet.

Thanks HackerNewsCommunity, and I hope I didn't break any rules when I put that link to my bookshelf. |

I fudged my through a demonstration this morning and really want to improve the way I do it. I'm not looking for info on presentations so-much but just books on how to give a better run through of software. Are there techniques I can use to do a better job next time a client comes in for a meeting and I'm left holding the ball.
